In addition to the obvious advertising purpose, this national campaign was designed with an implied message to the network of licensed companies that produced and sold VERSA-LOK products. At the time, several VERSA-LOK patents were expiring. The testimonial nature of these ads reminded licensees of the brand loyalty that existed with architects, engineers, and contractors. Along with the marketing and engineering benefits manufacturers received from VERSA-LOK, this message heightened an awareness of the challenges in developing one’s own retaining wall system.
