“Why do farts smell ‘better’ in the shower?,” I quietly asked my wife while viewing a Claude Monet masterpiece at the Chicago Institute of Art.
I believe that an unpretentious nature and a sense of decorum don’t have to be exclusive. I like bowling—but can’t stand people talking during theater performances. Women’s roller derby is a hoot—yet I’m a stickler for proper table manners. Blue jeans at church are acceptable—but I prefer that kids don’t greet teachers using first names.
Similarly, I’m not impressed by superfluous jargon. I take pride in an ability to sift through facts, perform my own sniff tests, and draw independent conclusions.
By the way, humidity improves molecular interaction with olfactory receptors in our noses…enhancing aromas while bathing!
